I am convinced that my
laundry will never
be done. I could die and go to heaven and there would
still be something (hopefully not my underwear) flopping
around in the dryer.
I thought Jesus
meant blessings in Luke 12:48 when he said, “From
everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded”.
Now I realize he meant blouses and blue jeans as well.
It's like scrapbooking, no matter how much
you accomplish, there will always be more to do. The
futility of staying "caught up" makes me want to give up,
like King Solomon in Ecclesiastes when he wrote: “Yet when I
surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to
achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the
wind; nothing was gained under the sun.” (Ecc
2:11)
If there is nothing to
be gained, why do anything at all?
Why race to the washing machine every time I find a dirty
outfit stuffed behind Katie's door, hoping to add it to the
last load?
Looking
for answers, I turned to another King—one
known for washing away the toughest stains. As I thought
about all Jesus went through, only to have sin still
flopping around inside us after his
death on the cross,
I realized that our
goal is not to to get caught up at all.
As long as we live and
breathe, there will always be sin . . . and dirty laundry.
Thanks to Jesus (and those who man the spin cycle), we
always have something clean to put on . . . when we are
ready for a change.
May God bless you this
Easter season and always.
A Quote to Grow On
"For thousands of years, God gave us his
voice. . . .
But in the manger, God gave us himself."

"As you wear yourself out in His service,
remember
you will never be asked to work harder,
than the One you are working for."
