Last
August while visiting Stephanie (a friend and fellow digger from
Omaha, Nebraska), she pointed to a piece of plywood in her
garage and said that her husband had purchased it to make a
headboard for their oldest daughter. This friend is known for
her follow-through and I was excited when she e-mailed me a few
weeks later with photos of the finished project.
In the
photos that follow, Stephanie shares how she and her husband,
Brian, created their one-of-a-kind headboard.
We (my
husband) cut the 1/2" plywood in a 61" x 39" rectangle. Then we
(my husband), cut a curve at the top to round it out. Next we
stapled a layer of 1" foam. Then we stapled a layer of quilt
batting. Finally we stapled a layer of pink fluffy fabric to it.

Next we
added 2 legs and propped it up against the wall behind the bed.

Our plan
was not to bolt it to the wall or the bed because it should stay
in place by itself with the bed holding it against the wall and
the legs supporting it.

Now that
we've done it once, we could make a bunch more. Maybe the guest
bedroom will get a headboard next! It was very easy!
