When we
decided not to finish our basement, we made some simple changes
to make it a more inviting space for our family. If you have an
unfinished basement, read on to see how you can do the same.
-
Put
down carpet
One of the first things we did after moving in was to put
down carpet in the area of the basement where our workout
equipment would be kept. We later added it to the girls'
play area to get ready for a sleepover.
-
Paint
the cement walls a more inviting color.

-
Hang
curtains over basement windows.
To
avoid drilling into the cement walls, we hung the
curtain rods from the rafters with string.

-
Use
fabric to define your living space and hide unsightly
storage areas.
In the
photo below, ugly pipes are hidden behind fabric that has
been stapled to the rafters.

Remember,
it's not what you have, but what you do with what you have. From
my unfinished basement to yours, have an organized day!
