Use
a built-in shelving unit to store handbags that keep
their shape. If you have more hanging space than shelf
space, consider purchasing a
hanging closet organizer from amazon.com.
-
Place
larger bags that do not keep their shape on hangers. If
space is an issue, another option is to adhere
3M hooks
to an unused closet wall or the inside of a door and
hang purses from these hooks.

Store
small purses in clear containers or purchase
a compartmental storage box like the
Park A Purse organizer from amazon.com.

Hide
tote bags in a basket or storage cube near the door so
they are readily available when you have too much to
carry to your vehicle.

Note:
Although the techniques described above work well for me,
individuals with designer handbags may want to consider the
following advice posted by members of the Purse Forum at
http://forum.purseblog.com:
don't store your good bags on the shelf at the top of they
closet...it's warmer up there and the leather will dry out more
quickly.
I also read
on another site that the handles of leather bags can stretch when
placed on hangers. This has not been a problem for me because most
of the purses I buy are inexpensive when purchased and empty when
hung.
Please
follow manufacturer instructions when storing expensive handbags. If
it's worth paying money for, it's worth paying attention to
how it's stored.
