Time Management

Finding More Time In Your Life "Putting off doing what counts most to you now until you have 'more time' is like saying you can't go on a diet until you lose some weight." (p. 46)

Time Management From The Inside Out by Julie Morgenstern "Essentially, just as a closet is a limited space into which you must fit a certain number of objects, a schedule is a limited number of ours into which you must fit a certain number of tasks. When you start thinking about it this way, time isn't so tangible after all. In fact, each day is simply a container, a storage unit that has a finite capacity. You can only fit so much into it." (p. 39)

To Do Doing Done "Identifying and prioritizing our life values is the first step in developing a life purpose, a process that may be hte most important work we do in our life." (p. 24)

"It's a good idea to quickly review your personal and business values and goals every day. Without this frequent reminder, it's easy to lose focus and become reactive. This leads us to working on other people's agendas rather than on our own." (p. 87)

Getting Organized

Organizing From The Inside Out "Walk into any kindergarten classroom in the world, and you will behold the perfect model of organization. Think about what makes it work.

First, the room is divided into activity zones...Second, it's easy for the child to focus on one activity at a time. Each zone is well defined and fully self-contained...Third, everything needed for each activity is right there at hte child's fingertips...Fourth, Every item has a clear, well-labeled home in a container that is the perfect size to hold it...Fifth, and most important...A child can walk into that classroom, look around, and decide what to do and where to do it based on a set of clearly defined cues." (pp. 60-61)

Conquering Chronic Disorganization by Judith Kolberg "Chronic disorganization is disorganization that has a long history, undermines one's quality of life on a daily basis, and recurs." (p. 6)

Personal Dvlpt

Empires Of The Mind by Danis Waitley "Whoever we are, we make our habits and then our habits make us-which happens so subtly that we remain unaware of the process. The bindings of our habits are too small to be felt until they become too strong to be broken." (p. 200)
Discover Your Strengths Now "Over time each of us becomes more and more aware of who we really are. . . . Some of us identify our talents accurately enough but then wish we were blessed with different ones. Like Mozart's rival, Salieri, in the film Amadeus, we become increasingly bitter as we try and fail to conjure new talents from within." (p. 44)

"And then suddenly we have a revelation...We return to our strengths path, and our friends, impressed by all the good things that happen as a result-our productivity increase, our attitude improvement-look at us and say, 'Wow, look at him. He changed.'

Well, no, the exact opposite has happened. What looks on the surface like transformation is actually acceptance of some things that can never be transformed-talents. We don't change. We simply accept our talents and refocus our lives around them." (p. 44-45)

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People "I believe that giving 'wings' to our children and to others means empowering them with the freedom to rise above negative scripting that had been passed down to us. I believe it means becoming what my friend and associate, Dr. Terry Warner, calls a 'transition' person. Instead of transferring those scripts to the next generation, we can change them." (p. 316)
